Purchasing Blinds For Your Sunroom Or Patio

Many homes now have sunrooms or enclosed patios in which the family can enjoy the sun without having to go outside in the elements, such as scorching hot summer days. But a number of days, the sun is too much inside and the family’s enjoyment of their sunroom or patio is ruined by the suns glare.

What to do? Blinds of different shapes and sizes for your space would be the answer. There are many sunroom blinds and patio blinds that can be custom fitted for your particular room to help boost the enjoyment of your additional space. These blinds may also help protect your family from harmful UV light that comes in the windows. And it protects furniture from fading against the harmful light.

There are three main types of mini sunroom blinds on the market today: wood blinds, vinyl or metal blinds and cloth or fabric blinds. Depending on what the décor of you sunroom or patio is, such as a game room, extra family room, reading room, party room, hot tub room or dinning room, you can choose from a wide variety of blinds to fit your style. Also which way the blinds will function. They can be vertical and open from side to side or from top to bottom and hide away to keep the original look of your sunroom or patio. There are many different ideas to be looked at for purchasing and implementing your new blinds.

In terms of installation, there are two choices: you can install them yourself. If that is the case, you would be buying retail blinds. Or custom made blinds, which would be installed by the company cutting and making your blinds. With retail blinds, you go to the store and choose from what they have on the shelves. Make sure to measure twice because you wouldn’t want to see a blind in your window that is too small or too large. These are sometimes called ‘blinds to go.’

If you go the custom route, someone from the custom blind company usually comes to your home and measures all the windows in your patio or sunroom to make sure they get the correct measurements. You have a wider selection of the custom made variety because they are making them specifically for you. Some places have custom showrooms with various setting to show you ‘real life’ models of their blinds where other companies come to your home with samples and books with photographs of their work.

Although rare, some sunrooms or patios have arched windows. They would require arched blinds and these would have to be custom made. Retailers don’t carry arched blinds because there is not a large demand for them. Arched blinds still come in the same three styles, wood blinds, vinyl or metal blinds and cloth or fabric blinds. However, they might not come in all fabric or wood choices.
